As a part of the annual festivities North By North East also showcases a multitude of visual artists throughout the city of Toronto

This year NXNE Art is concentrating their thematic efforts around the quiet moments of urban life, the moments that take place after the dust settles. Starting June 16th for two weeks the festival will bring these ideas to the public through art, technology, and civil action.

The exhibitions promise to open up opportunities for public participation. Invading public spaces with unconventional art always breaks the ice with pedestrians but what NXNE Art has planned for the anniversary installations will convert some into art appreciators and make quite a few fall back in love with Toronto.

The NXNE Art Lounge on King West, near the Hyatt Regency, will present a 3D visual installation of futuristic Toronto by Alex Josephson of Partisans Projects and Norm Li Architectural Graphics + Illustrations as one of the key participatory spaces where visitors will not only look but help built the future vision of the city.

Off-site installations, aka “Urban Takeovers,” present artists from across the globe including a Montreal art collective En Masse, Brazil’s Alex Senna, guerilla projections by Dawn of Man

With just a little over a month to go NXNE Art is shaping up into a fascinating selection of public works. Art lover or not this one is worth a walk through.
