Curated musical experience out in the Portland woods – This is Pickathon

image

Running August 1-4 in the woods outside Portland, in the Happy Valley, Pickathon has a reputation as the best festival experience that manages to combine groundbreaking programming (focus on discovery), sustainable ethics, and a lineup that “pushes the boundaries of genre”. The woodland grounds turn into an aesthetic wonderland, a “riot for the eyes” as the festival describes it, and an overall immersive experience that will have you reconnect with yourself, nature, music, and likely a whole bunch of strangers who become great new friends.

The previously mentioned epic lineup features a wide range of acts across many genres including Lucius, Tyler Childers, Mountain Man, Sudan Archives, Makaya McCraven, &More (Chill moody & Donn T), Julia Jacklin, Dan Mangan, Jupiter & Okwess, Lido Pimienta, Karma Riera, and many, many more. Give a spin to this Spotify playlist to hear all participating artists.

Pickathon is rooted in  music, family, food, and community and as such will also feature a curated, world-class lineup with celebrated chefs from the Pacific Northwest. “Each Curation event begins with appetizers and drinks from featured mixologists, a few songs by the participating artist, followed by a communal meal,” share the event organizers. “Once everyone is fully satisfied, the experience ends with a few more songs from the band.”

The festival is also a zero waste event. Pickathon creates a permanent solar power array, a system of ride sharing, shuttles and bike storage to help get people from Portland to the festival, and no single use cups or dishes. So pack your tin mugs, friends in dancing shoes, big appetite, and join other music fans out in the woods.
