DMC Canada Scratch Competition in pictures

Last weekend marked an annual CDJ show and conference in Toronto. Hundreds of up-and-coming and aspiring musicians flooded the hallways of the Hilton Hotel for workshops, talks, and industry panels. The highlight of the weekend was the DMC Canada East Coast Scratch Competition and a mind-blowing performance by Starting From Scratch.

14 DJs battled it out for the chance to win the title of the scratch champion. Each participant showcased their skills in a 2-minute scratch-only set. Unlike the overall DJ battle sets, which usually last around 6 minutes, scratch battles concentrate on the DJ’s ability to, well, scratch. The judges looked at the participant’s hand control on the record and fader and variations in style. At the end of the night, all bragging rights and prices went to the top 3 competitors:

1st place: DJ Veteran
2nd place: Cam B
3rd place: Adam McGren
